Capricorn Ingress 2020 – A New Era

We are rounding out an extremely difficult and trying year. The Sun will be moving into Capricorn, which marks the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. As one of the Cardinal points, the chart for the Sun’s ingress into Capricorn will mark the next season.

This Capricorn Ingress is different than most in that the Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn will occur about nine hours after the Ingress. This means that the themes of this season will be similar to the themes of the next 20 years.

This also marks a new era in which Great Conjunctions will occur in Air Signs. For the past 200 years, they have occurred in Earth Signs.

For more information about this and my thoughts about the Great Conjunction, see:

The Great Conjunction of December 21, 2020

This Great Conjunction will also be exciting to watch as these planets will be close enough that they will appear as a single star in the sky.

The Capricorn Ingress Chart

With this in mind, let us look at the chart for the Capricorn Ingress.

One of the first things to note about this chart is that it is much lighter than any of the Ingress charts we have seen in a long time. The Sun and Mercury are in Capricorn, as is Pluto, but Jupiter and Saturn have moved on to Aquarius.

Like Capricorn, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, but Aquarius is a day sign rather than a night sign. Saturn’s cold nature is moderated during the warmth of day. Jupiter’s condition will also improve. Jupiter was in Fall in Capricorn but has some dignity in Aquarius.

This, in and of itself, will feel like a relief for most people. This will not bring exuberance or abundance, but it will bring a cautious sense of hope.

Pluto is still in Capricorn, and Mars is in a tight square with this planet. This could be worrying, but it does not have to be. It is my contention that the impact of Pluto is entirely dependent upon whether or not we allow the poisons it has come to symbolize into our hearts and our souls.

For more information about this theory, see:

The Traditional Model of the Cosmos, Part IV: What About the Outer Planets?

In this chart, the Moon can be seen as Void of Course. It will not perfect any aspects until it moves into a new sign. The general meaning of a Void of Course Moon is “nothing will come of it.” If one were to count Pluto, the Moon is in a tight sextile with Pluto, but I generally do not use the Outer Planets when judging whether the Moon is Void of Course.

On the other hand, the Moon is already within moiety of a square with the Sun, which according to some sources, cancels a Void of Course Moon. Also, the Moon is in Pisces, and some sources say that the Moon will still function in Pisces even when Void of Course.

My own interpretation of this is that things will continue along the path they are going this season. There will probably not be any major surprises or upsets.

Other than the aspects I have mentioned, this is a rather quiet chart. Things have changed quite a bit over the course of 2020. We will now be settling in with these changes.

At this point in time, Covid-19 is still raging across the globe, but vaccines have been developed. It will take time for these vaccines to be distributed. There have been deeper and more lasting changes, though.

The world has been through an event that has crossed national, political, and cultural boundaries. The shared trauma has given the world a common experience which will forever change the way we look at everything. Furthermore, technology has rapidly become more entrenched in our lives. For example, more people are comfortable using Zoom than would ever have been imagined a year ago.

recommendations

Below are my recommendations for the coming season:

  1. Compared with the past year, this is going to be a rather quiet season. Take a breath and find some time to recharge.
  2. Do not succumb to temptation to try to return to the way things were before. Everything has changed, and there is no turning back.
  3. Take stock of where you are in your life. What do you want to leave in the past, and what do you want to bring with you into the future?
  4. If you are here, and if you are reading this, you have survived and made it this far. Take a moment to feel gratitude for this. Gratitude will go a long way towards helping to build a better future.
