We have entered into the Summer eclipse season of this year, and the first eclipse will occur on July 2, 2019. This will be a total eclipse, which will only be visible in South America and Southern Central America. The point of maximum visibility will be in the middle of Argentina and Chile.
This seems to be a rather strange eclipse, and it is difficult to predict just how it will manifest. As is always the case, the people who live in the areas where it is visible will feel the biggest impact. On the other hand, eclipses are worldwide events, and they do have influence even in places where they cannot be seen.
Chart Analysis for the Solar Eclipse of July 2, 2019
The central polarity of this chart is between the signs of Cancer and Capricorn, and it will occur just after the Solstice. One could say that this was obvious because the Nodes are in these signs, but in this chart, the theme is intensified further. Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is sitting right on the South Node, and the Moon, the ruler of Cancer, is steadily approaching the North Node, along with the Sun. This greatly amplifies these signs.
Cancer is the sign of the Mother. She represents our home and our roots. Capricorn is the sign of business and of social standing and status. In a real sense, Cancer is the sign of the Hestia, and Capricorn is the sign of the Agora. The traditional role of the Hestia and the Agora, among other concepts, is discussed in great detail in The Feminine Universe, by Miss Alice Lucy Trent.
Chart subthemes
In addition to the main theme of the polarity between the Hestia and the Agora, there are three major subthemes. The first Mercury and Mars in Leo moving into a square with Uranus in Taurus. This could create some upheaval because it is a part of the eclipse chart, but it does not have to. Unlike the eclipses of last summer, Uranus is not entangled with the main action of the eclipse and thus is easier to avoid. The main thing to remember is to avoid the temptation to cut yourself off from your loved ones or those who would give you support.
The second subtheme is a square between Neptune and Jupiter. This could represent a crisis of faith for some, and it could also cause some to experience disillusionment.
The third subtheme is quite interesting, I think. Venus is off by herself at the end of Gemini. Even though she is not interacting with any of the other planets, she is next to the Fixed Stars, Betelgeuse and Polaris. Polaris is, of course, the North Star, and it has been used for navigation for quite some time. On a symbolic level, it would seem that whatever troubles this eclipse may bring, it is Love that will guide us through the storm.
Solar Saros Series 127
As is the case with all eclipses, the Solar Eclipse of July 2, 2019, is part of a family of known as a Saros Series. The Saros Series of this eclipse is Solar 127. This series began on October 10, 991, and will end on February 29, 2416. This is an interesting and rather mysterious series, and it is difficult to interpret. Below is the chart.
One of the most notable features of this chart is that Saturn is the final dispositor. This leads a heaviness to this chart, and it would seem to indicate slow and steady change or erosion rather than sudden upheaval.
Investigating this Saros Series proved to be a challenge. In many cases, events that seemed related to it were “off” a bit in time and often occurred places where it was not visible. It also seemed that this series became more active as it aged, which would fit with having a Saturn final dispositor. It could also be that the events that seemed to be associated with this eclipse were really the result of the paired Lunar Eclipse, which I have not yet had the chance to analyze.
One of the more dramatic events that might have some association with this Saros Series or the paired Lunar one could be 9/11. The last pair from this Saros Series occurred in the summer before this attack. On the other hand, the famous Medieval Astrologer Robert Zoller attributed this event to the Solar Eclipse of 1999. This is because the full impact of Total Solar Eclipses is said to be delayed one year for each minute of totality. The current eclipse, by the way, will have a duration of 4 minutes 33 seconds. By this rule, the full impact will not be felt until around January of 2024.
Other historical events that may be associated with this Saros Series are the excommunication of King Henry VIII, the legalization of birth control and no-fault divorces in the United States, and the shuttle launch with Sally Ride, the first American woman to go to outer space.
Conclusion and Recommendations
This Solar Eclipse has the potential to be disruptive. Usually, eclipses have a bigger impact on the world stage than in our personal lives. This eclipse could be an exception. The main theme of the chart for this eclipse is the polarity between the Hestia (the home) and the Agora (the marketplace), which cannot help but impact people on an individual level. Also, historically, this Saros Series seems to be related to legal matters concerning very personal and intimate matters. Below are some recommendations for managing this Solar Eclipse:
- As always, if you are in the path of visibility for this eclipse, try to avoid seeing it and exposing yourself to its light.
- Think about your own personal balance between the meeting the demands of the outside world and protecting and maintaining your home and your family.
- Resist any temptation to sever connections with those you love.
- Hold fast to your beliefs and your values and if you are tempted to doubt them, avoid that temptation for now. Yes, it is normal and natural for people to grow and change in their beliefs, but right now your judgment is likely to be clouded.
- If you experience confusion or difficulty, let Love be your guide.
